From the top of the fell to the next peak
We'll walk through snowy forests, cross small frozen lakes, and head into the wilderness. Depending on our destination we may walk along the Big Bear's Trail or explore nature reserve areas. On the top of the fells, we see the entire northern horizon. While admiring the snowy landscape and winter around us, we enjoy traditional wild berry juice. Your guide tells you stories about the nature around us and our cool arctic lifestyle.
Tour Details:
Duration is 5-6 hours and the length with snowshoes is 7-8 km. Your guide chooses the route and distance depending on your wishes and current conditions. The route has some steep parts and we walk also in deep snow. So at least a moderate fit is necessary.
Group size 1-8 persons. Minimum age 12.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a private tour?
Yes. The tour is arranged for your own group (1–8 persons). Ask for other departure times too: you can request a different time if you want to see the full moon, sunrise or sunset.
Do I need snowshoeing experience?
The minimum age is 12. No snowshoeing experience is needed, but at least a moderate level of fitness is required. The route has some steep parts and we also walk in deep snow. Your guide chooses the route and distance (7–8 km, 5–6 hours) according to your wishes and the conditions.
What equipment is provided?
We provide snowshoes or ice grips (slip guards), depending on the route, and poles.
What should I wear?

Where do you pick us up?
In the Ruka area (up to 5 km from Ruka Valley and Ruka Village) and in Kuusamo centre, or you can meet us at the trailhead.
What snacks do you serve? Can you take special diets into account?
We enjoy traditional wild berry juice and trail snacks, and our food always features plenty of local ingredients and northern flavours. Special diets are no problem: please tell us at least 3 days in advance.
Can I change my date?
Yes. Date changes are free when requested more than 7 days before the tour, subject to availability.
