HOSSA NATIONAL PARK WITH SNOWSHOES

Step into the calm of Finland’s newest national park, where icy lakes, silent pine forests, and ancient rock art tell stories older than time. This guided day hike in Hossa National Park combines natural beauty with deep cultural roots.

Follow peaceful trails along ridgelines and lakeshores, guided by a local expert who shares the park’s rich heritage – from shamanic traditions to the prehistoric rock paintings at Värikallio, dating back over 5,000 years.

Your local guide will take you to one of two stunning highlights:

  • Värikallio Rock Paintings – 8 km hike to a cliffside covered in ancient rock paintings, some over 5000 years old

  • Julma-Ölkky Canyon Lake – dramatic 6 km trail on ice. (Julma-Ölkky rock paintings can be seen only from the lake that is on ice in winter time).

Whichever path you choose, the experience is powerful: silent winter forest and stories etched into stone from a time before written language.
