Sometimes a few hours is all you need to leave the resort behind and step into the northern landscape.
This private experience is designed for travellers who would like a shorter nature tour with their own local guide. We choose the route according to your interests, fitness level, the season and the conditions of the day.
Stay close to Ruka and spend more of your time outdoors, or use the three-hour option for a short visit to Riisitunturi when conditions allow.
There is no fixed itinerary. We can walk, snowshoe, stop for photography or simply take our time in a beautiful place.

Your Time, Your Way
A private tour doesn't need to follow a timetable once we reach the trail.
If the light is beautiful, we can stop for photographs. If the children discover something interesting in the snow, there is no need to hurry them along. If you would rather walk than stop, we can keep moving.
The experience is shaped around your group and the conditions of the day.

With a shorter experience, choosing a nearby destination means more time outdoors and less time in the car. For Riisitunturi, we recommend the 3-hour option as the minimum for a short visit. If you would like more time to explore the national park, choose our 4–6 hour Private Guided Nature Day.

Where can we go from Ruka in 2–3 hours?
For a short private experience, we recommend staying relatively close to Ruka. Good options include Valtavaara Nature Reserve, local forests and scenic hiking or snowshoeing trails around Ruka.
With the 3-hour option, a short visit to Riisitunturi or Oulanka National Park may also be possible depending on the starting point and conditions.
Is 3 hours enough for Riisitunturi National Park?
Three hours can work for a short visit to Riisitunturi, but part of the booked time is spent travelling from and back to Ruka. If you would like more time for hiking, photography or simply enjoying the national park without rushing, we recommend the 4–6 hour option.
Can we visit Oulanka National Park in 2–3 hours?
We recommend choosing at least 4–6 hours for Oulanka. With only 2–3 hours, staying closer to Ruka usually means considerably more time outdoors and less time in the car. Driving time to Oulanka is 30min/one direction.
What can we do during a short private tour?
Depending on the season, we can hike, snowshoe, explore the forest, look for scenic viewpoints or focus on nature photography. The experience does not follow a fixed programme, so we adapt it to your interests and the conditions.
Is this suitable for children and beginners?
Yes. The 2–3 hour option is particularly suitable for families, first-time snowshoers and guests who prefer an easy or moderate nature experience. The route and pace are chosen for your group.
