IIVAARA NATURE RESERVE SNOWSHOEING
ADVENTURE
Iivaara fell is a distant, quiet, magical place far away from everything. The name Iivaara means dark (Ii) + fell (vaara). It is the highest fell in southern Kuusamo and from the summit you can see all the way to the horizon. Sit under silent snowy spruce trees and taste some snow, see the fells of Russia in the east and listen to the arctic silence. This used to be the southern border of Sápmi (Sámi) land and when you see the landscape, you'll understand why.
Explore the Quiet Magic of Iivaara Fell. Far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Iivaara Fell offers a peaceful and enchanting escape into nature. The name "Iivaara" comes from the words "Ii" (dark) and "vaara" (fell), perfectly capturing the mystical atmosphere of this remote Arctic treasure.

From the summit, you can see the fells of Russia to the east, sit beneath silent snowy spruce trees, and truly experience the stillness of Arctic nature.
