Schneeschuhwandern im Riisitunturi-Nationalpark von Sonnenaufgang bis Sonnenuntergang
Step into the quiet beauty of the Valtavaara–Pyhävaara nature reserve and discover one of Kuusamo’s most meaningful winter landscapes.
Join us for a snowshoeing adventure guided by a local expert who knows these forests, fells, and their stories by heart.
PYHÄVAARA
As we walk through soft, deep snow and ancient spruce forests, you’ll hear about the history of Pyhävaara — a sacred fell whose name literally means Holy Fell.
Long ago, there was a seita on the summit — a sacred stone and place of worship for the Sámi people. During our journey, you’ll hear the story of the seita and learn how these natural formations were once central to spiritual life in the North. The landscape still carries a special atmosphere — peaceful, powerful, and timeless.
At the top of the fell, we are rewarded with wide panoramic views stretching across the northern horizon toward Ruka. On clear days, the winter light paints the snow-covered forests in soft blues and silvers — pure northern magic.
